Fortinet has announced new capabilities for FortiEndpoint, its unified endpoint platform, designed to help organisations govern AI use, protect sensitive data, reduce endpoint risk and simplify security operations. The enhancements bring AI visibility and control, native data loss prevention, risk-aware access capabilities and FortiAI-assisted workflows into a single endpoint security experience. 

As AI-enabled applications and agents become part of everyday work, organisations need clearer visibility into how these tools are being used across devices and users. Fortinet’s update reflects a wider shift in cybersecurity, where endpoint protection, data security, secure access and AI governance are increasingly being combined to reduce operational complexity. 

The new FortiEndpoint capabilities are relevant to security, infrastructure and IT operations teams that need to support AI adoption while maintaining control over data exposure, user behaviour and device risk. Fortinet says the platform brings together endpoint protection, detection and response, secure remote access, data security and assisted operations through one agent, one console and one licence.

FortiEndpoint now provides a consolidated view of AI application and agent usage across endpoints, including installed AI tools, agents and web-based services. This is intended to help organisations identify shadow AI, unmanaged applications and unauthorised tool usage while tracking adoption and user activity from a central console. 

The update also introduces native DLP capabilities to help reduce AI-driven data exposure and insider risk. Fortinet says FortiEndpoint can inspect sensitive data, such as personally identifiable information, intellectual property and financial information, when it is exchanged with AI applications and services. These controls are combined with user coaching, dynamic endpoint risk and compliance scoring, adaptive zero-trust access decisions and FortiAI-Assist for operational support. 

For many organisations, AI adoption is moving faster than traditional governance processes. Employees may use a mix of approved tools, browser-based AI services and emerging agentic applications, creating visibility gaps for security teams. Bringing AI usage visibility, data security and endpoint risk context into one platform can help reduce the need for separate point products and disconnected workflows. 

The announcement is also important because endpoint devices remain a practical control point for how users access applications, handle sensitive data and interact with cloud-based services. By linking endpoint telemetry with the Fortinet Security Fabric, FortiEndpoint is positioned to support more adaptive policy enforcement across users, devices, applications and data.
